The CWI Logistics team became an official sponsor to the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) this week and they also look forward to becoming a participant in the time of need in support of ALAN’s national disaster relief efforts.
Since 2005, ALAN has worked to ensure non-profit organizations responding to disasters have the resources they need. In 2011, they partnered with Feeding America and the Material Handling Industry of America on an interactive display at the ProMat Expo. Visitors to our booth learned about disaster response work while constructing family food kits for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. All materials and labor were donated, highlighting the strength of collaborative supply chain efforts.ALAN identified transportation resources to move sandbags and boots to Louisiana during spring flooding of the Mississippi river; food to an Alabama shelter following the tornado outbreak; and tools to North Dakota following the Souris River flooding. ALAN located office and warehouse space for the American Red Cross and forklifts and pallet jacks for food banks. ALAN continues to connect supply chain resources to where they can do the most good for the most people.
